Amy and Steve are service crazies, which can be rather unfortunate for their three kids, since every dining experience becomes a lesson in the subtleties of service (although by age five Emma and Olivia could note if the server maintained good eye contact and seemed sincerely interested in their satisfaction).  Amy's Ice Creams' office was close to EZ's on Lamar where Amy and Steve frequently picked up a quick lunch; however the service and product were inconsistent and items were frequently missing.  They called the EZ's Big Cheese and heads flew.  The solutions was Abi.  Problem solved.  Amy and Steve never like to steal employees from other businesses because it's bad karma, but that doesn't stop them from asking if they're happy.  The dialogue started and the relationship was cultivated long before Phil's was envisioned.  Abi was the perfect fit - a solid country girl (Beeville) who could handle two kids and a busy Saturday night at the burger stand and still manage a few sarcastic barbs Amy and Steve's way. Luis was Abi's number one guy and has been promoted to oversee the "78704" Phil's Ice House on South Lamar. Congrats Luis!
