Amy's Ice Creams original production facility on Guadalupe had spent years churning out the delicious ice cream that all of Austin knows and loves.  But Amy's was growing and the time came for new, bigger and better digs.  Amy and Steve Simmons spent the greater part of 2003 and 2004 looking for a new permanent home for a productions facility fine enough to do Amy's Ice Creams justice.  The neighborhoods of Allandale, Brentwood, Violet Crown (a combination), and Crestview, brimming with young families and active seniors eager for fun neighborhood haunts, looked promising; after discovering the beauty of the community, they fell in love.  When they finally found a "for lease" sign on the old Allandale Post Office and Humble gas station, they called to beg the owners to sell.  Serendipitously, the Bohn Brothers turned out to be uncles of Steve's college buddy, Chris, and a deal was struck the very next day.
